Peshawar Tragedy
Dear Parents,
We the management & staff of AES School For Girls are all shocked and saddened by the tragic and terrible event that transpired yesterday, 16th December 2014 at the Army Public School Peshawar. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who lost their beloved children, and to those who managed to survive to carry the scars of this trauma. Our hearts ache for the school staff members including the brave school Principal Mrs. Tahira Qazi who laid down their own lives trying to rescue their students.
We acknowledge the heroic role played by our Armed Forces, First Responders and Doctors to save as many lives as possible. We have tried to pay tribute to the fallen by offering Fateha prayers for their forgiveness and lighting candles in their remembrance at the school today.
Although events of this scale are rare, we realize and recognize the urgency and insecurity felt by staff, students and parents alike. Individuals might feel sad, grief, helplessness, anxiety and anger in reaction to situation like this. In order to overcome these feelings we need to support each other.
1. Your child might be concerned that something bad will happen to them, their family or friends. Explain to them safety measures and reassure them that adults will take care of them.
2. Limit event discussions and exposure to media coverage. No point repeating the same thing again and again in front of them. Young minds are still in the developmental phase. Trauma and shock can have severe impact on their behaviour and emotional well being.
3. Maintain normal family routines as much as possible.
We pray and hope that Allah (S.W.T) Has mercy upon us, and rids our country and society of all evil.
Do recite a prayer for the safety and well being of your loved ones and appreciate them. Life is precious and there is no gift more precious than time spent with your loved ones.
May Allah Bless us all. Aameen
